Job Title: Server
Department: FOH
Reports to: General Manager
General Description: Responsible for providing guests with exceptional hospitality and ensuring all guests leave Kissaki satisfied; assisting with food and beverage selections, ringing in and monitoring orders, maintaining dining ambiance and overall cleanliness and presentation of the space.
Hours: 30-40 / week       Exempt      Nonexempt



  • Complete opening side work checklist for shift daily
  • Greet guests immediately with a smile and take initial beverage order
  • Help guests to make selections from food and beverage menus, suggest courses and pairings, explain any off-menu dishes, answer all food preparation questions
  • Maintain expert knowledge of all menu offerings
  • Take orders from guests, ensuring 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS
  • Handle allergies with the utmost care, consulting with the kitchen and ringing orders with the proper modifiers
  • Check identification of all customers who appear under 30 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them
  • Communicate with the kitchen to manage timing of courses, any guest feedback, etc.
  • Deal with guest complaints by finding a way to say yes; involve the manager on duty as needed
  • Process guest payments in timely, accurate manner
  • Process financials on shift-by-shift basis, including submitting accurate cash sales
  • Accurately report cash and credit card tips and contribute to tip pool as applicable
  • Complete closing side work checklist for shift daily
  • Maintain sanitation to DOH standards; Keep work area clean and organized 
  • Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
  • Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
  • Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management 

Essential Functions:

  • The ability to lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • The ability to bend, stoop, stand and perform extensive walking for 8-10 hours a day

  • The ability to approach their work with a sense of ownership and work with a sense of urgency
  • The ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and a variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • The ability to perform essential job functions under pressure and maintain professionalism when under stress
  • The ability to consistently meet Kissaki’s hygiene and grooming standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • The ability to adhere to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
  • The ability to adhere to all HR policies and guidelines
Work Experience Requirements: 2+ years’ experience as a Server of similar caliber sushi concept

Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED, preferred, TIPS Certification, preferred
